ABOUT
Sign Together is a family-run business based in Oxfordshire, serving the South of England. Founded by Richard Walklett, a hard-of-hearing BSL signer, our mission is to foster deeper connections between the Deaf and hearing communities by making British Sign Language (BSL) more accessible to everyone.
Richard was born hard of hearing, and as his hearing has deteriorated over the years, he has become a dedicated hearing aid user and a passionate BSL teacher. Richard’s personal experience with hearing loss gives him a unique perspective, and his approach to teaching BSL is rooted in empathy, patience, and understanding.
At Sign Together, we offer BSL courses designed to build confidence in learners of all ages. Whether for fun, to communicate with others, or to gain a recognised qualification, our courses cater to your goals. We’ve taught hundreds of students, from local evening classes to corporate clients, including major hospitals, charities, high street bank and local universities. Many of our students are educators or work in customer-facing roles which means BSL is being used and Deaf awareness practised as a result of learners commitment to BSL.
We believe in the power of BSL to open up new opportunities and bring a voice to minority communities, and we aim to create a ripple effect by teaching our students not only to learn sign language but to spread it.
Sign Together’s team of skilled tutors, many of whom are Deaf or hard of hearing, work alongside Richard to deliver high-quality BSL education. Stephanie, Richard’s wife and an experienced language teacher, supports the development of our curriculum and ensures that all of our courses maintain the highest standards of quality.
As an accredited Signature Centre, we offer Signature Accredited Qualifications in BSL, including Levels 1, 2 and 3. Our expert tutors follow Signature's curriculum and learning objectives, providing you with the skills you need to communicate confidently and effectively in BSL.
