An Introduction to British Sign Language, Burford

If you've always wanted to learn British Sign Language but weren't sure where to begin, our six-week Introduction to Sign Language course in Burford is the perfect place to start.
 

Designed for complete beginners, this relaxed daytime course introduces the basics of British Sign Language in a friendly and supportive environment. There are no exams, no previous experience is needed and no pressure—just an enjoyable opportunity to learn a fascinating language alongside like-minded people.
 

Whether you're learning for work, to communicate with Deaf family members or friends, or simply because you've always wanted to try something new, you'll be warmly welcomed.

What the course covers

Over six weeks you'll be introduced to the foundations of British Sign Language, including:

• The BSL alphabet and fingerspelling

• Numbers

• Greetings and introductions

• Talking about yourself and your family

• Everyday vocabulary and conversations

• Weather

• Places in the local community

• An introduction to Deaf culture and communication

Throughout the course you'll have plenty of opportunities to practise signing in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Classes are practical, interactive and designed to help you build confidence at your own pace. We keep our groups friendly and welcoming, giving everyone the opportunity to join in, ask questions and enjoy learning together.

This course is ideal if you've been curious about British Sign Language but would prefer to start with a shorter commitment before progressing to a longer course.
 

A wonderful venue

Warwick Hall is located in the heart of the beautiful market town of Burford, with free public parking just a short walk away.
 

An excellent café is located downstairs, making it the perfect place to enjoy a coffee before or after class and chat with fellow learners. Refreshments are not included with the course fee.
